Summer Spotlight is aiming to get young teens interested in aspects of theatre outside of acting, as well as give them an opportunity to work in those departments. All shows through Broadway Bound’s Summer Spotlight will be student directed, designed, and produced. Helping young adults look into the many careers that are not always seen directly on stage. Also, helping students understand and appreciate the work that they don’t tend to see in person when acting in a show. Although much of this program is looking into the behind the scenes part of creating a musical it also uses student actors in order to learn what it’s like to take direction and to professionally work alongside their peers. Our goal is to introduce teens to theatre in a new light and to give them the experience and mentoring required to be able to independently produce their own production. It also drives to express the importance of every single individual behind and in front of the curtain.

Meet the Team
Program Manager & Director
Tea Einarsen began the process of creating Summer Spotlight in August of 2016. With the help of Jimmy Nixon, Heather Jessup, Chelsea Husted, Melina Karu and many other mentors and peers, Tea has been able to direct, produce and do everything in-between for three full-scale productions. Tea has found that her three most essential jobs within this program are finding those kids who want to learn and grow, making mistakes so others don't have to, and attempting to build the confidence of every production, techie or actor that she gets the opportunity to work with. Tea was inspired to start this program when she noticed a large number of young people whose passion and drive were being lost due to a lack of opportunity. Summer Spotlight has taught Tea the value in not only the shows we bring to the stage but also every individual who works to get it there. She is so excited to be furthering her education in this field as she attends Long Island University POST this upcoming Fall to study Arts Administration.
Production Manager & Musical Director
Henry Roseman is the musical director for Summer Spotlight this summer. He is a rising sophmore at Seattle Academy, and this will be his 10th show with Broadway Bound. He had the opportunity to play in the band for last summer’s Summer Spotlight show, Spelling Bee, and is excited to take on a bigger role this year! In addition to playing 9 instruments, he also acts, sings, composes, and orchestrates music. He is currently orchestrating a full-length musical written by two faculty members at his high school.
2019 Production Team
Olivia Tanaka - Scenic Designer
Liv has been a part of Broadway Bound's Summer Spotlight as scenic designer for two years now. She last designed Putnam County Spelling Bee and has been involved in the scenic construction of Newsies, Fiddler on the Roof (Broadway Bound), B (Washington Ensemble Theatre), Parliament Square and Language Rooms (Pony World Theatre), as well as participating in Everett High School's drama club. Liv is extremely excited to start work designing her last show before going to Western Washinton University to study technical theatre and scenic design. She would like to thank Broadway Bound, specifically Justin and Heather, and Teá for giving her the opportunity to discover and pursue technical theatre as a career.
Paris Toscano - Stage Manager
Paris is 18 years old and has been involved with her high schools drama program for 2 years. She has had the opportunity to stage manage 3 shows including 42nd Street, Peter and the Star Catcher and Footloose. This is her first production with Broadway Bound and she is so excited to learn more about stage management and meet tons of amazing people.
Josie Augustavo - Assistant Stage Manager
Josie Augustavo is an upcoming 9th grader at Bishop Blanchet High School and is an avid painter and tambourinist. As a theatre veteran, she has performed in many productions around the city of Seattle, and after 7 musicals in 2 years, she is excited to drop back behind the scenes for once and put a whole show together. Special thanks to the whole production team for providing her with this new opportunity.
Kody Smith - Public Relations
Kody is an avid performer, spending most of his life entrenched in the arts. He has been in 9 theater productions in his life including Peter and the Starcatcher, Footloose, and Rhyming Robin Hood. He also has done both Symphonic Choir and Jazz Choir at his schools since the 6th grade. Singing is truly his biggest passion in life, and nothing makes him happier than to perform on stage. This year he will be filling the Public Relations position for Summer Spotlight. He first got involved with this program in 2018's "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" playing the role of Chip Tolentino. With a year of PR experience under his belt, he looks forward to establishing and maintaining a great social presence with this program, and he hopes to see the program continue to flourish in the future as a fantastic environment for young artists to express themselves!
